CFEngine has users in more than 100 countries, including many of the world’s largest financial organizations, as well as companies like IBM, eBay, Cisco, Qualcomm, AMD, US Navy, US Energy Department, NASA AT&T, Chevron and Linkedin. CFEngine is estimated to run on more than 10 million servers worldwide, executing billions of configuration checks every hour and automatically fixing thousands of system drifts that otherwise would have destabilized the infrastructure and required manual correction.
With CFEngine, IT organizations provision new services effortlessly while providing continuous availability and security compliance. Known for its ability to handle scale and complexity, CFEngine enables organizations to become more agile.
CFEngine was created in 1993 and is now in its 3rd version. CFEngine has an incredibly small footprint and executes extremely quickly (written in C and usually runs in less than 10 seconds), non-intrusive and can be deployed to many platforms from Android to AIX.
In 2009 three French guys, expert in open source infrastructure technologies, decided to come together and design an enterprise-ready configuration automation solution that is easy to learn, use and maintain. They founded the company Normation and started Rudder Project, a 100% open source project, hosted on Github.
Rudder offers systems administrators the power of CFEngine with a web based user interface, auditing, role-based workflow, change control and compliance reporting.
The Rudder community continues to grow and play an essential part in the evolution of the software.
This community room is being organised by volunteers from CFEngine Inc. and Normation. Contact jcl AT normation DOT com for any questions.
