"SaltStack is a system management platform written in Python. In this session, we will assume basic system administration skills and a familiarity with common DevOps concepts. We will briefly review a couple architecture layouts, but will quickly jump in to Salt's advanced features. Specifically we will discuss Salt's Beacons for system monitoring, Salt's Event system, Salt Reactors, as well as Salt-API (Salt's native REST api). We will do a live demo of using a Salt Beacon to send Salt Events when there is a system change and display that change on a dynamic dashboard that watches Salt's Event Bus for certain messages. The audience will be able to participate by sending events to this Salt demo server from their cell phones and see them displayed live on the dashboard."
